Section I - 1200 and up:  4SS, G/60.  EF: $25 by May 5, $30 on site.  Prizes based on 30: 1st $120, A,B,C,D - $100 each.  3+ for prize otherwise $30 for that class. 

Section II - 1199 and below: 4SS, G/60, EF: $15.  1st, 2nd, & 3rd by tie break recieve trophies.  Free pizza lunch for Sections I & II.    Rounds: 9:30 am and ASAP.  OSA, NC, NS, W.

May 17:  Mountain View:  First Annual Tommy's Famous Chess Tournament 

What is offered: Trophies for 1st, 2nd & 3rd Overall, and the opportunity to play in a rated USCF event.

When & Where: Saturday, May 31st 2008 at the Mountain View High School.

Format: 6 rounds G-25 (25 minutes on each clock) using Swiss pairings.

Entry Fee:  Scholastic Players $2, Adults $5.  USCF membership required.

Registration & Rounds: Reg. 9:00-9:50, 1st round begins at 10:00, following rounds as soon as possible.  Lunch break after the 2nd round.

1.  common abbreviations:
USCF: United States Chess Federation.  Events indicated by "USCF",  require USCF membership.  For rates, look here
ACA: Arkansas Chess Assocation.  Events indicated by "ACA",  require ACA membership.  Adults $10, Juniors, $5 - available at site or look here .
OSA: Other States Acceped.  In ACA required events, other state assciociation memberships are accepted for out of state players in place of ACA memberships.
SS: Swiss System.  A method of pairing players with like scores.  As in 5SS or 4SS, which means a 5 round swiss tournament or a 4 round swiss tournament.
G/:  Game in.  As in G/60 or Game in 60 minutes.  Each player has 60 minutes to complete the game.  Other common time controls: G/75, G/90, G/120.
